When Martin was five years old, watching the young jumpers on a winter holiday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he decided after two hours in the cold: I want to do that too! At six, he began training in Eilenburg. In seventh grade, he transferred to the sports high school in Oberwiesenthal . Martin has been on the German Ski Federation (DSV) squad since 2011 .
Martin has won team silver at the Junior World Championships three times . In 2019, he placed among the top 15 in the World Cup for the first time.
In the 2019/20 winter season, Martin entered the Continental Cup with excellent results. He placed in the top five six times . He narrowly missed the win in Rena and finished the season in fourth place overall .
In the 2020/21 season, Martin became a permanent fixture on the World Cup team . Following strong performances, he was nominated for both the Ski Flying World Championships and the home World Championships in Oberstdorf. There, he finished 24th on the large hill in his World Championship debut .
In the World Cup, he finished in the top 20 eleven times . With his tenth place in Klingenthal (February '21) and his three eleventh places in Engelberg, Nizhny Tagil and at the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he demonstrated his great potential .
In the 2021/22 winter season, Martin competed primarily in the Continental Cup . He placed in the top 10 five times . He narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish on the Olympic hill in Zhangjiakou (China).
The federal police officer continued to compete primarily in the Continental Cup in the 2022/23 season. With six podium finishes, he achieved fifth place in the overall standings.
The 2023/24 winter season was promising for Martin. He finished first at the German Championships in Klingenthal, securing the national title of "German Champion" and a spot on the World Cup team.
In the winter of 2024/25, Martin won two FIS competitions and finished 15th in the COC on the Olympic normal hill in China.
